Course Overview
 
Medical research published in the last 10 years has provided new insights on the endocrine and physiologic effects of diet and exercise.  These insights illuminate “new” paths to fitness that are actually effective, natural, sustainable, and encoded into our bodies since antiquity.  In this presentation, Dr. Wilson will explain conditions that are favorable for losing stored fat, building muscle, and shifting basal metabolic rate.  He will discuss time-effective exercises that almost anyone can do, even those with disabilities and chronic illnesses.  He will also point out how to use exercise to suppress appetite and build mitochondrial function.  He will also review research that explains how short bursts of exercise can boost productivity, mental focus, learning, sleep, and immune function.

Dr. Wilson graduated from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 1985 and is trained in Family Practice. Dr. Wilson specializes in examining the link between basal body temperature and peripheral thyroid function and developed a new paradigm for thyroid treatment which he used in over 5000 patients.  He was the first doctor to use sustained-release liothyronine and for over twenty-six years he has educated over 2000 physicians about its use for patients with symptoms of low thyroid and low body temperature despite having normal blood tests. Dr. Wilson advocates low body temperature as a potential marker for poor health. His novel treatment of using sustained release T3 is now standard of care with a subsection of physicians practicing complementary and alternative medicine.  More recently, Dr. Wilson has developed the first exercise program based on appetite. Dr. Wilson is the author of 4 books, including the extensively referenced Evidence-Based Approach to Restoring Thyroid Health, and his most recent book, The Power of Fastercise.
