PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
The mouth is more than the gateway to the digestive tractโit can be an overlooked source of inflammation, toxic burden, disrupted airway function, and barriers to healing throughout the body. In this presentation, Dr. Ben Javid explores the mouth-body connection through the lens of biological dentistry, including the potential systemic impact of root canals, cavitations, metal restorations, and obstructive sleep apnea. Attendees will learn how identifying and addressing these upstream contributors may support patients struggling with chronic inflammation, fatigue, immune dysfunction, and other complex health concerns. Dr. Javid will also highlight the role of nutrition, detoxification support, airway optimization, and restorative therapies in creating an environment that supports the bodyโs innate capacity to heal. The presentation ultimately makes the case for a more collaborative model of careโone in which biological dentists and integrative practitioners work together to move healthcare beyond symptom management and toward true prevention, root-cause medicine, and long-term vitality.
-
โ Explain the foundational principles of biological dentistry and its role in evaluating the relationship between oral and systemic health.
โ Identify three major sources of oral toxic burden and potential disruption of meridian pathways that may contribute to chronic inflammation and impaired healing.
โ Recognize common signs of airway dysfunction and obstructive sleep apnea and understand their potential impact on overall health, energy, cognition, and chronic disease.
โ Describe opportunities for collaboration between biological dentists, naturopathic doctors, and other integrative healthcare practitioners to improve patient outcomes.
โ Apply a root-cause, prevention-focused framework that moves beyond symptom management toward a more comprehensive model of health, healing, and long-term vitality.

Dr. Ben Javid is a biological dentist, educator, speaker, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Smilebody, an integrative health center built around a simple but powerful idea: the mouth is not separate from the bodyโit is a gateway to whole-body health.
For more than two decades, Dr. Ben has explored the intersection of dentistry, airway and sleep, nutrition, longevity, and integrative health. His work has evolved beyond treating teeth to asking a deeper question: What may be interfering with the bodyโs natural ability to heal and thrive?
A graduate with honors from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, Dr. Ben also holds Diplomate status in Dental Sleep Medicine. His lifelong curiosity has led him beyond conventional dentistry and into biological medicine, human performance, and the emerging science of health and longevity.
As a clinician, educator, and speaker, Dr. Ben is passionate about challenging outdated boundaries between dentistry and medicine and helping both patients and practitioners see the mouth-body connection through a wider lens. Rather than positioning himself as the person with all the answers, he encourages people to question, investigate, and become active participants in their own health.
That same philosophy shapes his life outside the practice. Dr. Ben sees dentistry as both a science and an art, entrepreneurship as a vehicle for meaningful change, and leadership as an opportunity to elevate others. Above all, his most important roles are those of husband and father.
His work and life are guided by a philosophy that has become increasingly simple:
Remove what interferes. Support what heals. Stay open to what is possible.
