PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
Sexual and reproductive health concerns in both men and women are often addressed through hormone testing, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical interventions, pelvic floor physical therapy, and counseling. Common presentations include low libido, sexual dysfunction, painful menstrual cycles, unexplained fertility challenges, painful intercourse, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and emotional difficulties surrounding intimacy.
While these approaches can provide meaningful relief, some patients continue to struggle despite comprehensive evaluation and treatment of hormonal, physiological, anatomical, and psychological factors. When symptoms persist or conventional explanations fall short, exploring the energetic dimensions of sexual and reproductive health may offer an additional perspective for understanding the patient's experience and supporting holistic care.
Drawing on more than 15 years of clinical practice, 12 years of direct study under a Qi Gong master, and extensive training in Womb Awakening practices, Dr. Laura Chan introduces an integrative clinical framework that brings together Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Taoist energy cultivation, and naturopathic medicine. This lecture explores how traditional concepts of energy, emotional patterns, and mind-body connection may complement established approaches to sexual and reproductive health

Dr. Laura Ives Chan is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor, acupuncturist, and certified Qi Gong instructor with over 15 years of clinical experience working with men and women at the intersection of integrative medicine, acupuncture, Qi Gong, and cross-culturally rooted energetic practices.
Dr. Chan earned her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and Masters in Acupuncture at Bastyr University and her BA in Medical Ethics from Brown University. Her energy cultivation training has significantly deepened her experience as a clinician: she spent 12 years in direct study under Qi Gong Master Dr. Guan Cheng Sun, earning certification as a Yi Ren Qi Gong instructor through the Institute of Qi Gong and Integrative Medicine in Seattle. She is also a certified Womb Awakening practitioner and facilitator, trained through the Institute of Feminine Arts. This work includes theory and somatic practices which she now teaches clinically and in retreat settings. She is also currently completing certification in menโs sacred sexuality coaching.
Drawing on both clinical practice and extensive training in Qi Gong as student, practitioner, and certified instructor, Dr. Chan brings a framework infrequently heard in mainstream sexual and reproductive system health discourse: one that assesses these systems from an energetic perspective and considers the conscious cultivation and management of oneโs energy as an important aspect of reproductive and sexual health, vitality, creativity, and wellbeing. Her clinical work, recent publications, retreats and classes explore the energetic and emotional dimensions of sexual health that conventional medicine often overlooks.
She speaks and teaches from a place of lived experience, clinical rigor, and genuine reverence for the complexity of human healing.
